- NAEYC: this organization has several links and tools to use to learn more about the early childhood field and ways to help the center you are currently working in. I have found this website very helpful during my studies and while working in my current center.
- County of San Bernardino: Preschool Services Department: this department is in place to benefit all head start programs in the county. The goal of the department is to empower families and children and this is exactly what I want to do everyday working with children.
- First 5 San Bernardino: this organization is a great tool to providing help to parents of children 0-5 years old. Their emphasis is to give children what they need to succeed. Programs like these are what make me love the field I work in. Children in these age ranges need the most help and that's what I want to do.
Job Opportunities:

Hi Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteThe NEAYC organization was the first organization that I picked. I agree that it is a wonderful resource for anyone in the early childhood field. Your other two web resources sound like they would be good resources for your county. What does the CYS stand for in your job opportunities? I can till that it is a name for a childcare program.

Hi Stephanie
ReplyDeleteI have been a member of the NASYC for over ten years. I have enjoyed going to trainings and being a part of such a group whose main goal to provide resources for young children and their families.
Hi Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteI have been a member of NAEYC for years but for some reason it seems beyond me to think about applying for a job with them. I do not feel like an expert in this field and that is what I think NAEYC is. The organization First 5 sounds a lot like one we have in Washington called Thrive by 5. This would be an interesting organization to work with. Now that I reflect on your post I also think this may be a helpful organization for my challenge topic. I just wish the organization was closer to were I live within my state.
The job opportunities you listed, are these ones you would consider for yourself?
Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have identified three very proactive Communities of Practice in your area. It does seem that we are inspired by each other's passion for the field. The job posting that calls for supervising 300 children sounds overwhelming - many more children than what I am used to supervising! I belong to NAEYC and have found their resources very helpful. Teaching Young Children is one of their publications which gives effective teaching strategies and of course you are familiar with YC which contains excellent articles on best practices and child development. Are you a member?

Stephanie-For the jobs you listed, are these at a military base? I see the same abbreviations we use at work (CYS). I currently work for a CDC on a military base and love it for the most part. In the future I too have thought about being an assistant director and the second position you have listed is not one we have available where I am at, but I would love it if we did. It's all the aspects of teaching that I miss with the managerial stuff thrown in as well. First 5 sounds like a great program too and I love when organizations help parents better themselves.
ReplyDeleteAmber- Yes these job postings are for a military base, NTC Ft. Irwin. The second position is for the Skies Unlimited organization that works with tutoring children and holds special classes for kids.
